    HONG KONG - 09.10.2016

Panasonic Jaguar Racing made a strong start in our debut FIA Formula E race at the challenging downtown HKT Hong Kong ePrix street circuit.

    • Our British driver Adam Carroll battled to 12th position, after a great drive climbing through the field from 17th, while teammate New Zealand born driver Mitch Evans retired in 10th place after a strong first stint in a drama filled race.

After the cancelation of the Super Pole qualifying session, the 22-year old put his car into 15th position. With a storming start, Evans had climbed five places during the first stint. The team identified an electrical issue with his second car and decided to prevent any further damage, which led to an unfortunate and early retirement.

Mitch said, “It’s a shame I wasn’t able to complete the race this time but I’ve learnt a lot. I made a good start and picked up a couple of places and was running well in the pack. The Jaguar I‑TYPE performed well and I can’t wait to get back in the car to race in Marrakesh!”

Meanwhile, Carroll fought his way to finish 12th following a strong second stint after the safety car and pit stops. Adam drove well and had the equal best efficiency performance in the field which helped him to finish one place behind Pole sitter and Season 1 champion Nelson Piquet Jr.

“I am pretty pleased with that. We showed decent and consistent race pace and we were particularly strong on energy management.” said Carroll. “I would like to say a big thank you to the whole Panasonic Jaguar Racing team. Everybody’s worked really hard to get here and we’ve learnt fast all weekend. There is much more to come.”

Overall, the team will leave having had a positive debut FIA Formula E race and we’ll look to build on this success in Marrakech in November. Be sure to follow Panasonic Jaguar Racing for the latest news and updates.
