JAGUAR I-PACE
Discover Jaguar’s first all-electric performance SUV. World Car of the Year 2019.
Thrilling to drive, easy to live with. Jaguar makes electric car ownership more exciting, more accessible and more practical than ever.
Electric cars benefit from significantly lower running costs than petrol and diesel vehicles. They’re also free from congestion charges, parking restrictions and low emission zones in some cities, as well as being backed by a number of generous government grants.
Thanks to the majority of charging being done from the comfort of your own home, you can more efficiently plan your time around the things you want to do. Simply plug in on an evening, and by morning you’ll always be ready to go.
Vehicles powered solely by a battery are able to achieve maximum power with zero tailpipe CO2 emissions. And with more renewable resources being added to the National Grid all the time, electric car energy is getting cleaner every year.
Electric cars are not only incredibly quiet, they’re also able to deliver instant acceleration with no lag and no gearshift interruptions. This helps to deliver a distinctively smooth and responsive driving experience at all speeds.
By sharing experiences and knowledge gained from our electric racing series, we’ve made huge progress with our road cars. For instance, the two extremely lightweight and efficient electric motors in Jaguar I‑PACE were developed using everything we’ve learnt from our I‑TYPE Formula E racing car.
Since the first Jaguar was produced in 1935, we have pushed the boundaries of what’s possible. Moving to electric doesn't change this. In fact, electricity offers more opportunities to shape our vision of a more sustainable, smarter driving experience that embraces the dynamic performance and dramatic design for which we're renowned.
We understand that it takes more than zero tailpipe emissions to drive sustainable change. That’s why, throughout our electric car development we have reduced the use of cobalt in our Lithium-ion batteries by over 60%. This significantly minimises our dependence on raw materials and takes us closer to our ambition of climate-neutral manufacturing.
With no petrol or diesel engine, a BEV is powered solely by an electric motor with a battery. Charged from an external power supply and regenerative braking, a BEV achieves zero tailpipe emissions.
A PHEV combines a petrol or diesel engine with an electric motor and a battery. Charged from an external power supply and regenerative braking, a PHEV blends the vehicle’s engine and electric motor for optimum performance and efficiency.
An MHEV stores energy that would normally be lost during braking, and intelligently re-uses it to assist the engine. It also incorporates a stop-start system that enables the engine to shut down while the vehicle slows to a stop.
